I haven't caught many snook in my life but I have fished for them a lot! I love to think about them lurking beneath the mangrove roots waiting for an unsuspecting school of bait fish to swim by and trigger a lighting-fast attack. They are beautiful fish that represent much of the joy of intracoastal and saltwater fishing in Florida. The most beautiful snook that I have seen inspired this painting when I visisted Jupiter, Florida and could see him posted up under the mangroves.
